Thursday after Hangtown and I am very glad I got to attend Honda of Troy/Kilbarger Racing's first National

I went up on Friday with my good friend Phil Alderton and we got to the track first thing on Saturday.  After a season of SX I was more than ready for the outdoors to get underway.

Chad Sanner, owner of Eleven10Mods, worked for Phil and Yamaha of Troy back in 2004 but it had been awhile since the two of them had got together.  As Troy Racing's biggest fan (since the team started in 1993) it was extremely cool for me to see Chad and Phil interacting.

It is evident that Chad has a lot of respect for Phil and even though Phil no longer has any financial ties to Troy Racing it is clear he's still emotionally attached to all things Fifth Dragon.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day at Hangtown with brisk temperatures below normal.

For a complete race report you can click on the Breaking News tab but here's my quick synopsis:

First moto was a rough one for the team.   Durham's goggle issue for all intents and purposes ruined  his efforts while Les Smith soldiered on for a finish inside the top 20.

Second moto found Durham running in second pressuring the leader.  Unfortunately the race was red flagged at the end of the first lap.  Fortunately the power of the Eleven 10 Mods motor got Durham to the front again this time getting away fourth where he hung tough for a well earned 9th.  Willard had rear suspension issues.

I watched the race on my DVR when I got home and was completely blown away by Durham's body English the first lap before the restart.  This cat has it going on!

After the restart I was amazed by Durham's save going into a right hand turn.  I really enjoyed getting to hear Honda of Troy's name mentioned two or three times during the broadcast as it's been a few years since we've had this type of publicity but I know for sure it won't be the last time this season we'll be hearing it.
